Victoria Rawlinson

Victoria Rawlinson BM - Helm

I have sailed all my life and loved every minute! My sister and I had many successes sailing together in our Youth, including winning Gold and Silver medals at the ISAF Youth World Championships and being voted Young Sailors of the Year.

I chose to take some time away from sailing to train to become a Doctor of Medicine. With this challenge now successfully completed, I aim to fulfil my greatest ambition and win a Gold medal for my country at the Olympic Games.

Sailing for me is all about exciting racing, a good breeze and a close team. I love sailing with my sister, Victoria, and it's great that Sue's personality fits with ours perfectly, so the chemistry in the boat is ideal.

I'm currently studying for my Accountancy exams, alongside sailing, which I hope to complete next year. It's pretty hard work, but I feel confident that by 2012 I will have achieved some of my biggest goals - in becoming an Olympic Gold medalist and a qualified Accountant!

There are three main factors which drew me to the Yngling.

The physical challenge. (Which I thrive on), The crews need for technical understanding, to sail the boat to its full potential and the opportunity to achieve so much more than you could as an individual in a team with the same goal driven motivation.
