Yngling sailing in Miami

The transition from training in England to Miami was a shock! It is hot with good sailing breezes and warm water. For the last two weeks we have sailed everyday with 15 other Ynglings from different countries. It's our first real chance to meet the opposition as a team and great to have them around on the water to sail with and compare rig setups. Whilst we're out training on our own, most of the international teams have their own coaches, but they've been great in offering us advice and helping us out - very sporting! It's fantastic sailing in such good conditions everyday and there's also the added excitement of glimpsing a pod of dolphins playing nearby!

We're based at Key Biscayne Yacht Club, where the facilities are excellent and everyone is very welcoming and friendly. There's even a swimming pool for us to unwind after sailing or as a lunchtime exercise session! Our first day of racing was today and we put in a couple of decent results for the start of the regatta. Hopefully as we settle into racing we'll be able to pull ourselves up through the fleet each day, but our main goal out here is to establish our racing team dynamic as a solid base for us to work on as the season progresses.
